Please make note of the following levels in order to place your child in the appropriate class. 

Preschool Aquatics

Level 1 Preschool Aquatics:

  • This is an entry-level class no or little experience in the water is necessary. Must be at least 2 1/2 years old and comfortable in a small group setting without parent.

Level 2 Preschool Aquatics:

  • Passed Level 1 Preschool Aquatics:

    • Enter independently, using either the ladder, steps or side, travel at least 5 yards, submerge mouth and blow bubbles for at least 3 seconds then safely exit the water

    • While in shallow water, glide on front at least 2 body lengths, then roll to back and float on back for 2 seconds then recover to a vertical position.

Level 3 Preschool Aquatics:

  • Passed Level 2 Preschool Aquatics:

    • Glide on front at least 2 body lengths, roll to back, float on back for 5 seconds then recover to a vertical position.

    • Glide on back for at least 2 body lengths, roll to front, float for 5 seconds then recover to a vertical position.

    • Swim using combined arm & leg actions on front for 3 body lengths, roll to back float for 5 seconds, roll to front then continue swimming on front for 3 body lengths.   

Learn to Swim

Level 1: 

  • This is an entry-level class. No or little experience in the water is necessary. Must be at least 2 1/2 years old and comfortable in a small group setting without parent.

Level 2: 

  • Passed Preschool Level 3 or Learn-to-Swim Level 1 or is capable of passing the exiting skills for those levels:

    • Enter unassisted, move for 5 yds., bob 3 times to chin level and safely exit the water. (Participants can walk, travel along the gutter or swim.)

    • Glide on front at least 2 body lengths, roll to back (with assistance) and float on back with support for 3 seconds & recover to a vertical position.

Level 3: 

  • Passed Level 2 or is capable of passing the exiting skills for Level 2:

    • Step from side into chest-deep water, move into a front float for 5 seconds, roll over to a back float for 5 seconds, then return to vertical position.

    • Move into a back float for 5 seconds, roll to front then recover to a vertical position.

    • Push off and swim using a combination of arm and leg actions on front for 5 body lengths, roll to back, float for 15 seconds, roll to the front then continue swimming for 5 body lengths. (Child can be assisted when taking a breath.)

Level 4: 

  • Passed Level 3 or is capable of passing the exiting skills for Level 3:

    • Jump into chest-deep water from the side, swim front crawl for 15 yards with face in the water and rhythmic breathing pattern (to front or side), maintain position by treading or floating for 30 sec., and swim back crawl for 15 yards.

    • Demonstration of swimming elementary backstroke 15 yards

    • Swim scissors kick with support 10 yards.

Level 5: 

  • Passed Level 4 or is capable of passing the exiting skills for Level 4:

    • Perform a feet first entry into deep water, swim front crawl for 25 yds., change direction & position as necessary & swim elementary backstroke for 25 yards.

    • Swim breaststroke for 15 yds.,change direction and position as necessary & swim back crawl for 15 yds. 

    • Swim under water (3-5 body lengths)

    • Survival swimming (30 sec.)

    • Feet first surface dive.

    • Front and back crawl, elementary backstroke, breaststroke, sidestroke, and butterfly (15 yds).

                 

Guardian and Baby Class: 

  • This class is for a guardian and babies from 6 months up to 2 year olds. No ability needed but it is extremely helpful if the guardian can swim

3) Download and print the registration form to fill out and bring to the first day of the session signed up for
